Three Six Zero Group International.

Im sitting in the LA office just off Sunset Strip and just finished a call

with Chris Lake regarding some Kelis productions and awaiting a film

producer to turn up for a meeting regarding Deadmau5 - things are looking

exciting on this side of the Atlantic.

Early July saw Three Six Zero Group's first foray into the American market.

With a growing demand for dance/pop productions coming from the US and an

8-hour time difference, it soon became apparent that it would be a sensible

option to have a man on the ground out here so I made the move to the warmer

side of the Atlantic to capitalise on the opportunities out here for our

large client base.

In a city which is renowned for its laid back attitude, business

is certainly booming and although musically the sound is slightly behind the

UK, this offers a large amount of opportunities, particularly for our dance

producers. They are adapting their style to suit the pop arrangements and

structures that are demanded out here (even for remixes).

This difference comes naturally to the likes of Calvin Harris (to be working

with Katy Perry in the new year) and Tom Neville who, working

closely with Dr. Luke, has turned out cuts with Ke$ha on her hotly

anticipated debut album.

In other genres, Dave Gibson is deep into the creation of his debut album

with some of the finest writers LA has to offer- signed to Epic in the US

and Columbia in the UK, he is carefully sculpting what is fast becoming a

mid-atlantic record, set to take both territories by storm.

Almost half way quarter four, and eyes are now looking towards the New Year,

and what that will hold. Over here in the US it is certainly looking like

4/4 will be around for some time yet - something that we'll be hoping to

make the most of.

Deadmau5 - For Lack Of A Better Name

Album Out Now

'For Lack Of A Better Name'

released 5th October  009

Deadmau5. His name may conjure up images of  a lifeless rodent, but this Canadian born self confessed techno geek punches like a Heavyweight.  Having had a meteoric rise he has gone from near obscurity to becoming one of the most in demand producers on the face of the planet and an innovative electronic live performer.  He has racked up more than 5,000,000 hits on MySpace, had a UK hit single ('I Remember') which has sold over 120,000 copies and spent 10 weeks in the top 40 earlier this year.

Deadmau5's has a new compilation album, 'For Lack Of A Better Name', out in October.  Now lets get one thing clear, this isn't his Artist album (that's still in mau5 lab), this  is more a collection of random works that he's produced individually. A few have been out previously, but there are some new surprises in there as well. The tracks will be  segued together, so in a way reflect his current live show.

2009 will see deadmau5 continuing to break boundaries in the music world.   The concept of his live show reflects the changing the face of dance music. He performs using Ableton (music production software), and controls this with a Lemur. No, not the furry mammal but a futuristic music controller which wouldn't look out of place on Star Trek.  So not your typical banging on the synths. And of course, let us not forget the giant tailor made giant Mau5head.

This summer he's performed some electric shows at Sonar (The most spectacular audio visual assault involved an oversized mouse mask...this was Sonar at it's expectation -shattering best)   The Observer),  and Glastonbury (Laptop played  by giant nightmare cyber rodent whose black eyes look as if they're staring into the depths of your soul and are not impressed by what they see - that's thrills. NME).  This autumn he'll launch his mammoth world-wide ‘For Lack Of A Better Name’ tour.  The tour is bigger and brighter with new visuals and a mind blowing innovation, which we cant reveal just yet, but will lift the show to new heights.  More details soon.

To the Chinese it may be the year of the Ox,  but 2009 will be the year of the Mau5.

August in the land of 365....
Posted : 04.09.09 by Matt

Well welcome to the first of regular blogs by different members of the Three Six Zero Team. Kicking things off with August, things have been a fairly busy month for the 365 roster.

Congratulations go to Calvin Harris for reaching the No.1 spot with his new album 'Ready for the Weekend', everyone who worked on the album put in a huge amount of effort and so well done to everyone involved. We celebrated on the Sunday at V in Stafford with a blinding gig to top off a month of full on festivals. (Photo above taken on the blackberry-cam at V)

Last week saw us head over to Paris for the very sunny Rock En Seine where Calvin proved a crowd pleaser pullling in most of the 30,000 crowd, followed on Sunday where we met up with the rest of the team at Creamfields.

Deadmau5 has also spent August continuing his one man assault on the work of live music, playing to packed out stages across Europe, culminating last week in the task of playing both Reading Festival and Creamfields in the same afternoon. However, it all played out nicely - (thanks to a very quick helicopter).

September is set to continue like August, with Hurts and Dave Gibson continuing to write their debut records its business as usual in the 365 world..
